In December 1994 our restaurant opened its doors for the first time under the name Salzberg and went into test operation. Thomas Windisch and his then partner “Trixi” Emberger ran the Salzberg as a beer bar with traditional Austrian cuisine until 1998. In June the bar was sold to Wolfgang Lehmann. After completing his business studies with a focus on marketing & sales, Thomas Windisch took over again from Mr. Lehmann in 2004. Together with his partners Regina Swoboda and Peter Köhler, they renovated the entire restaurant from the ground up and reopened after a three-month renovation phase with a breath of fresh air.
The goal was clear to be one of the most successful bars in the 6th district. In order to remain true to this goal, it is not surprising that we changed our slogan “summit of comfort” to “highly valued” as part of a relaunch in 2013.
Highly valued because we value every area of our company highly: Above all, we value our guests, our employees, the quality of our drinks menu and the exquisite composition of our dishes, our interior, as well as criticism and feedback. That is precisely why we will continue to let you, dear guests, look behind the scenes of the salt mountain in the future and bring you closer to the origins of our products.
Our breakfast brunch is now highly valued, which is why we opt for smoke-free from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and on public holidays – so you can enjoy a relaxing brunch until the afternoon.
Thomas Windisch and Andreas Scheffenacker have run the Salzberg together since October 2015.
